Enterprise Architecture Health Check

Enterprise Architecture Health Check

About this service

The EA Health Check, assesses the current state of an organisation’s architecture practice, ultimately, providing a clear snapshot of the status of an organisation’s architecture capability, and how that architecture is being delivered and its capability to deliver services.

It comprises three critical aspects:

    • SWOT analysis – Typical Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis focused on the makeup and skills of your organisations current EA capability and its’ processes (“architecture the verb”) reporting on whether they are fit for purpose, delivering the promised value to your organisation and are sufficient to support your Business Intent.
    • Architecture (Process) Maturity Assessment using the US Department of Commerce (DoC) Architecture Capability Maturity Model (ACMM), the model that has been widely adopted as the de-facto standard for EA capability assessment.
    • An assessment Using our Integrated Architecture Framework (IAF) of the suitability of your Enterprise Architecture artefacts (“architecture the noun”) to meet your needs and identification of any key gaps.

Why is it important?

Enterprise Architecture turns strategy into execution, ensures that your technology and business design are aligned and driven by your business strategy/intent. In doing so, it enables you to execute your strategy with confidence whilst minimising total cost of ownership and risk and maximising benefits and resulting agility.

If your Enterprise Architecture capability is not efficient and effective, you will not obtain these key benefits of Enterprise Architecture. This service will tell whether it is fit-for-purpose and where not identify the gaps to be closed to make it so.

How we work with you

Firstly, interviews with identified key stakeholders are held to understand the desired scope and expected outcomes to be achieved by the Enterprise Architecture capability. We will then review of existing documentation deemed relevant to this exercise including but not limited to:

    • Current Enterprise Architecture documentation
    • Current business process maps
    • Current application functionality descriptions
    • Scope documents for planned transformation projects where available
    • Solution Architecture documentation for planned transformation projects where available
    • Existing Change process documentation
    • Existing governance bodies and processes documentation

Interviews are then held with Business Analysts, Enterprise, Solution Architects and other SMEs and leveraging Fragile to Agile Intellectual Property the draft of the report will be produced. This will then undergo a traditional review and update cycle.
