Macquarie Group is a leading provider of banking, financial, advisory, investment and funds management services. Its global operations include offices in the world’s major financial centres.
It combines entrepreneurial drive with deep industry and regional expertise and robust risk management to give its clients and investors’ confidence, and to deliver innovative products and services and strong investment returns.
Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS) comprises Macquarie’s retail banking and financial services businesses, providing a diverse range of personal banking, wealth management and business banking products and services to retail customers, advisers, brokers and business clients.
Fragile to Agile Engagement
Impressed by the success of the Fragile to Agile designed and governed transformation program at ME Bank, BFS engaged Fragile to Agile to develop a Business Capability Model to drive its core banking replacement program. The model has been used as the core design artefact for scope management; requirements gathering; services design and technical architecture alignment for the program. Following the success of its use, it has now been adopted as a key design artefact for other transformation projects at BFS including originations; digital refresh; payments gateway refresh. It has also been adopted to enable technology roadmap development across the whole Macquarie Group. A senior Fragile to Agile resource is also the lead solution architect for the core banking replacement project within the overall program.
Finally, (for BFS) Fragile to Agile established business architecture governance including the definition of legislation (design principles), governance bodies and processes incorporating channel design, business process design and information management. This leveraged our prior work which included a common data model for all core (“front office”) business capabilities and data architecture principles and strategy, to also establish information and data governance at BFS.
In two separate engagements for other divisions of the Macquarie Group Fragile to Agile developed a capability model for the funds management and “back-office (Operations, Finance and Risk) then performed a current state analysis of the systems that supported those capabilities.
