Flinders UniversityOrganisation Overview
Flinders University was established in 1966 and takes its name from British navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in 1802. Flinders University enjoys a well- justified reputation for its excellence in teaching and research. It has a long-standing commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all and a proud record of community engagement. Flinders attracts students from over 100 countries and its’ alumni have built careers and lives that enrich communities across Australia and throughout the world. Flinders’ achievements are underpinned by the network of strong external links that have been developed with stakeholders and with the communities it serves. It is committed to being a university that is outwardly engaged, continuing to build the supportive and valued relationships which will be vital for the future.
Fragile to Agile Engagement
Fragile to Agile atypically placed a lead architect at Flinders University on a time and materials. Initially engaged for three months the total contract duration is now approaching two and a half years of continuous engagement. The original brief was to develop an application and integration strategy. Following the release of the University’s 2025 strategic plan, the scope was extended into a complete digital target state and digital roadmap. Taking a business capability based approach, the digital target state positions the University as an innovative adapter to digital disruption opportunities. With an aggressive adoption of cloud services our architect led the selection process for an integration-platform- as-a-service (iPaaS), defined a set of integration principles and drafted integration patterns for common hybrid integration scenarios. The architect continues to be engaged at a program level providing oversight over the digital roadmap and other University initiatives.
In a separate engagement at Flinders F2A developed a target state and roadmap for Flinders BI & analytics capabilities.
