Established in 1965 in Christchurch New Zealand, Datacom now has more than 4,000 staff, working in 27 different offices in New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines, growing to be one of Asia Pacific’s leading locally-owned IT-based service providers. The services it provides includes:
- Cloud services: Offering infrastructure, platform or software as a service, with flexible commercial terms
- Data centers: Nine across the group, owned, built and/or operated by Datacom to world-class specifications
- Custom software development: 800 software developers building and enhancing all types of systems for public and private sector clients
- Business process: Mature local multi-channel BPO operations
- Payroll: ANZ’s leading payroll applications
Fragile to Agile Engagement
Datacom was responding to wide-ranging tender from a large South Australian company that included a requirement to develop a target state and roadmap for the organisation (in addition to material managed services, data centre and other traditional IT outsourced functions). As part of their bid response preparation Datacom identified that having a strong architectural approach to the roadmap development, as well as independent architectural governance over the transition of services from the incumbent provider, would be well received by the prospective client and a strengthen their response.
Datacom selected Fragile to Agile to both be a part of the bid response team and should Datacom be successful the ongoing architectural services which were factored into the bid response. This, included participating in key presentations to/from the prospect client and the interactive workshops that were held as part of the RFP process.
At the time of writing Datacom, including committed architectural services from Fragile to Agile, have been short-listed to the final two and the BAFO process is underway.
